The main objectives of the consulting’s service are: - Review of the existing design guidelines mainly 12 volume, design guidelines prepared by Small Town Projects, and nationally and internationally related available literatures and list documents as per the adoptability in Nepalese context. - Lead a multidisciplinary team of experts in developing the design guidelines for water supply systems. - Ensure the developed guidelines reflect components of climate resilience, sustainability, and are practical for use across Nepal’s diverse geographical regions. - Ensure that the developed guidelines align with international standards while addressing the unique challenges of Nepal.
This assignment is a timely initiative to harmonize existing technical frameworks and practices into a unified, future-ready design standard for Nepal’s water supply sector. The guidelines will serve as the foundation for planning, designing, and managing water infrastructure nationwide, with due consideration of technological, institutional, environmental, and social dimensions. It will include review and synthesis of Volume 12, STWSSP guidelines, urban/rural standards, procedural and technical specifications, and global best practices. Consultant is committed to delivering outputs such as revised procedural guidelines, design criteria, typical designs, work norms, specifications, and operation manuals supported by stakeholder consultations and grounded in field realities.
